Sri Lanka is a country of unparalleled beauty and their southern coast is no exception. Weligama is a great spot for first-time surfers and those still finding their feet in the water. Freedom Surf School is locally-run with instructors who’ve grown up surfing these waves from birth. Expect consistent beach breaks all year round and bigger waves during the months of October to April. Their accommodation is a welcoming and chill surf-hostel vibe with plenty of packages to suit tighter budgets.
You can’t argue with $16 for a one hour lesson including all equipment, can you?
